Guest speakers/report on meeting.
On Friday 27 March, the three MP¡¦s who represent Wolverhampton at Westminster, Ken Purchase, Pat McFadden and Rob Marris were guests of Wolverhampton Pensioners¡¦ Convention.
After a short introduction, the members present were invited to ask questions of the Members of Parliament. Subjects covered included;
„« Post offices.
„« The Euro.
„« Pensions in the UK compared to pensions in other European countries.
„« Treatment of people, such as those with learning disabilities and older people, in our hospitals.
„« The Council Tax.
„« Members of Parliament expenses
„« The credit crunch and bonuses/pensions paid to bank CEOs.

Rally in Birmingham ¡V 18 April 2009
Members of the Wolverhampton Pensioners¡¦ Convention will be taking part in the Make a Stand rally in Victoria Square Birmingham at midday on 18 April.
The purpose of the rally is to draw attention to the large number of pensioners who are still living in poverty, what is needed to rectify the situation and how this can be achieved.
Meeting 24 April 2009 ¡V guest speakers
Guest speakers at the Wolverhampton Pensioners¡¦ Convention on 24 April at 10.30 in Wolverhampton Civic Centre will be Doug Jewel of Asbestos Support West Midlands and Jane Viner of the new LINk scheme for hospital consultation.
New website for Wolverhampton Pensioners¡¦ Convention
Wolverhampton Pensioners¡¦ Convention has a new website at www.wolverhamptonpensionersconvention.btik.com . the site has information about the group, dates and times of meetings, contact details for the organisation and lots of links to other relevant groups.
There is also a new feature, a forum which people can join to discuss matters of local and national interest plus the opportunity to catch up on items sent to the media, reports on meetings and a chat room.
Please note that it is not necessary to join the forum to view the information on the main site.
